Join us for a fun and interactive event where you'll learn the art of bookbinding for beginners. Get hands-on experience creating your own unique notebooks and journals. No experience necessary - all skill levels are welcome! The event will take place on Sat, Aug 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Griffin Gardens, 19400 Bentler St.
This is a beginners level workshop and each person will create two notebooks to take home at the end of the class: a pamphlet stitch notebook and a notebook using the Japanese stab binding stitch. All of the materials and tools (paper, decorative paper, bone folders, awls, needles and thread, etc.) will be provided and attendees will go home with their two notebooks.

Understanding Your Child Through Connection is a parent-focused workshop that helps caregivers understand what children’s behavior is really communicating. This educational session provides practical tools to improve communication, reduce conflict, and build stronger, more connected relationships at home.
Come lend a hand and get your hands in the soil at Griffin Gardens! Our volunteer days are a chance to support a growing neighborhood flower farm and community space in Detroit. Whether we’re planting, weeding, harvesting, spreading mulch, or doing garden clean-up, there’s always meaningful work to be done — and many hands make light work.
No gardening experience is needed — just a willingness to learn and a love for being outdoors. You’ll leave with a deeper connection to the land, a better understanding of how flowers are grown, and the joy of contributing to a space that serves as a pollinator habitat and gathering place for the community.
